Weeks 4-6 at Liberace's

Here are our studies from Rob Liberace's Friday painting class! Desi modeled for us again, he was phenomenal. You can see our previous drawings of him here and here. We had a lot of fun doing these, hope you like 'em!

Week 3 Liberace's painting class

Some more work from Robert Liberace's painting class! Lamb the overachiever did a color study and added color to her underpainting from last week. I started a new head. The class is super interesting! I learned a lot about paint handling and how to stay in control of your materials by watching Mr. Liberace's demo. We don't have class next week, but we'll have a new model when we get back. Exciting!

Some more work on this painting. Right before this awful DC snow came around, Lamb posed for the figure gathering oranges. I hope to work on this some more in the spring, once we get some civilized temperatures around here.

Two Drawings

Here's more work from both of us! The first is one of Lamb's figure drawings from Mr. Liberace's class. It's one of my favorite figures by Lamb, it's lively, full of form and shows part of the process too!

The second drawing is my portrait of our housemate Sean. He was nice enough to sit for me, and he never even asked for a break! I need to ask him the secret of this mysterious stoicism.

First day at Liberace Painting Class!

Ramon and I had a great first day in painting class! We both improved a lot by watching Mr. Liberace's demo and then trying hard to apply his methods. It was a lot of fun! We worked on these for about two hours.

Our visit to the Walters Art Museum

 Here are some tantalizing pictures from our visit to the Walters today. The museum is amazing! More to come. These are all by my hero Mariano Fortuny.

A much needed update

It's been awhile, but we finally have a camera, so we can show you what we've been up to! This is a selection of studies, sketches and a finished work or two. Washington DC has been amazing to us so far! Also, Robert Liberace's classes are even better than we expected! The painting class starts Friday and we're really excited!
